Week Three of My Favourite Things

I can’t believe we are less than three weeks away from the visit by the big guy himself! Time is flying by as per usual this time of year but I hope ya’ll have taken some time to enjoy your favourite things. To recap, from now until Christmas I will be sharing a few of my favourite things. Week one was all about the wreaths, week two focused on getting your ugly on this holiday season which leaves us with the 3rd week. In keeping in theme I have been blogging to the tune of “My Favourite Things“. I am excited about this week and can’t wait to share all the goods, take a read below and see if you can guess what it is;

“Red coloured sparkles and festive ideas
Reindeer red ornaments held on with hot glue
Crafting wildly with reluctant partners in crime
These are a few of my favorite things”

Yup, these are definitely a few of my favourite things. That being Christmas traditions, specificity making your very own one of a kind ornaments. With all traditions some are old, some are new and some we pick up along the way. I started this tradition when we moved out to Vancouver and didn’t have any of our ornaments from back home. I decided it would be fun to start making our very own, each year since we have crafted together to decorate for the season. They haven’t all been winners as you can see below;

But then again that’s part of the fun! It makes for a good laugh and even better story when you get those curious looks as your company notices them on your tree. This year we picked up some goodies from 4Cats Art Studio, if you haven’t been I highly recommend checking them out. There are so many art projects to do with family or friends and you can even take some of their classes. We bought some cute little DIY clay ornament kits;

Inside was a set of clay, some instructions and lots of imagination. This crafting project really let the creator mould whatever they felt with the coloured clay provided. I kept in line with the penguin theme;

I have to also include my creative partner Dave’s beauties, he went off into uncharted territory and made his own version of a snowman and a mini clay version of Charlie;

I am so excited to hang these on our tree this year, all that is missing is the little ornament hangers which can be bought at any craft store. This tradition is one of my favourite, I love all the laughs, creativity and special moment captured in an ornament. What’s your favourite Christmas tradition? Please do share, I would love to hear all your wonderful traditions this time of year.

“When the glue stings, when the glitter fades
When I’m crafting like mad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad”

*My Etsy store will be held open a bit longer so if you still need to put in your order you will have until next week. I am proud to say my Etsy shop, BBCraftlandia, was one of the local shops chosen for a segment done on GlobalBC, check out the link below http://globalnews.ca/video/2382718/locally-made-holiday-decor *
