It always takes a lot to get me going in the morning, let’s face it, I never was a morning person and I never will be. My saving grace is knowing that I can have a delicious cup of coffee each day to get me moving. I decided it was time to create a coffee nook in my kitchen, what better way to pay your dues to the juices that get you going in the morning?! I went at this project the way I face most, I put a flower on it 😉
I came across this vase in the clearance section and had one of those “aww it’s so ugly it’s cute” moments. You know the ones, when you aren’t sure if you should turn and walk away or pick it up and run for the hills. I decided I would do the running, after I paid for it of course. I really like the owl look and the rooster on the front seemed fitting for a coffee station as they both wake you up in the morning. Mind you, one may be less annoying than the other.
I tried to pull as many colours as I could from the vase, especially the yellows, oranges and reds. I wanted it to greet me the way Oprah would if I slept over at her house, a jolly “goooodddd moooorrrniiing!!”. Who knows maybe I could learn to be a morning person…..okay, probably not.
I am in love with my little coffee station! Yes, I still want to punch my alarm clock in the face when it goes off but now when I walk around the corner and see my floral all nestled in the corner I can’t help but smile a little. It’s amazing what a little colour will do. Happy Crafting 🙂
As I write this post I can hear the sound of a fan slowly turning from left to right buzzing in the background. I am already starting to become one with the chair I am sitting in as my legs stick to the surface. Ahhhh it’s that time of year again!!! I guess I will take the bad with the good. Even though my apartment has been hovering around 30 degrees and I have been waking up with the sun each morning because it’s unbearably hot which for a non-morning person such as myself is not a good thing…..nope, not at all! I have a resting bitch face until at least 10am which is when my coffee buzz slowly starts to kick in and I feel as though I can take on the day, the hot hot day. There are, of course, the wonderfully good things about the summer which are glaringly obvious so I won’t get into too much detail, ya’ll know why you love it! The long days, sunsets on the beach, camping, lazy days chilling in the sun and sipping on some iced tea. It never tastes as good as it does in the sum sum summer time. It’s also the perfect time to add a little of that love around your home which is why I decided to put a bird on it; Isn’t he the tweetest?! If you want more details on the pattern I used then check out The Big Book of Little Amigurumi by Ana Rimoli. It’s filled with lots of adorable patterns including the one above. This little birdy also makes the perfect accessory for the summered themed wicker wreath I made;
I wanted to create a wreath that was simple yet elegant for any home or cottage. The lace ribbon wrapped around the burlap creates a classy vibe as well as the pearl beads used inside of the crochet flowers. You too can create your very own wreath, it’s time to get your craft on! Get out there and get inspired, you can use felt flowers if you aren’t a hooker or you can even use silk ones. Remember there are no rules, create what you feel. If crafting isn’t your thing then check out my Etsy store BBCraftlandia, you will find this wreath as well as others to give your home a warm summers glow. Happy crafting 🙂
