Some Bunny Loves You….

This is true, some bunny does love you but before I introduce my dear friend Ralph I first want to share how you can spot a bunny who loves you. The most obvious and sure sign that you have a bunny who loves you is by the sweet chocolate droppings it leaves behind. This is a symbol of love, yummy yummy love! But this only works for bunnies and usually only happens once per year around March and April, it doesn’t work the same for your dog or cat. If they are leaving you what appears to be chocolate droppings do not consume!! This is not a sign of love, your pet may be trying to tell you something else……

Before we eagerly search for these magical droppings and colourful eggs let’s get our Easter craft on and create a welcome fit for a bunny who poo’s chocolate! My favourite part of the season is all the beautiful pastel colours, the overwhelming abundance of cuteness, and the colourful eggs. So many ways to decorate and get creative, I love it. I created a wreath in honour of the season and used a whole lot of cute with the help of my dear friend Ralph;

Yup, that little cutie in the middle is Ralph. He is so fluffffyyyyyy!!! I’m going to share how I made this little bundle of Easter fun (if you want to make a burlap wreath of your own check out my DIY section ) but this post is all about this guy;

All you need is the following;

  • yarn
  • felt for the feet and ears
  • googly eyes
  • mini pompoms for the tail and noise

This is a great project to do with the little ones as long as they are okay to use scissors or you could do the cutting for them and let them do the decorating. You can dress up your bunny any way you see fit, add a cap, add a bowtie or a moustache. For step by step instructions you can find this fun project here

*I hope you all have a Hop Hoppidy Hop Easter! Tis the end of March Madness and I thank those who played along. Stay tuned for my spring line coming soon to a BBCraftlandia store near you. I will be back for more funtasitic crafting on April 11*

Redesign on a Dime: Pillow Talk

This next post is the final in my redesign series and also my favourite project thus far! There is something special about curling up on a couch or in bed for an afternoon nap and being surrounded by the comfort of pillowy softness. I love me a good pillow, not too soft but not too firm, it needs to be the perfect combination of both…..ahhhh makes me sleepy just thinking about it. Changing up the pillows you have or adding a few more is one of the easiest and funnest ways to breath new life into any room. You can go out and buy new or you can change things up by replacing the existing pillowcase. You can also crochet or knit some pillowcases or if you can sew even better as you can grab some new fabric and whip up some afternoon delight just in time for a well deserved nap. So many ways to get your creativity on with this project.

If you have ever been in the market for a new pillow or two you will have already noticed that it can be quite expensive. That’s why I recommend just updating the pillowcase(s) if at all possible. I did just that as well as added a little new and by new I mean I raided the clearance section any chance I could get looking for the perfect addition. I also found some on one of my travelling adventures. Needless to say I have been working on this redesign project for a while. Here are some other creative ways to go about this project;

You can also get some help from Etsy;

It’s amazing what these small touches can do to change the vibe of a room;

I don’t like things to be too “matchy, matchy” so as you can see none of them are the same. I might have taken it to the extreme but I feel they can still chill together without there being a conflict. So there you have it folks, 4 redesign projects to update your space that don’t break the bank! I hope you had as much fun as I did with these projects. Let the change of the season motivate you to channel that feeling of “new” back into your homes. Follow my blog (link along the side), you won’t want to miss next week when I introduce my friend Ralph…..

*Less than two weeks left for March Madness, prizes still available!!! Check out the bottom of my previous post here for contest rules and exciting deals*

Redesign on a Dime: Paint it Up

If you haven’t guessed it yet, I love to craft!! It’s the kind of love you can’t get enough of, the kind that keeps you up at night dreaming about all the places you will go and things you will see. Just the smell of a craft store gives me a boner, yup it’s that serious folks! I will admit that my one weakness and something I am not good at is painting. I wish this was a talent of mine but unfortunately I still draw my suns with sunglasses and all my people are the stick kind. I decided to challenge myself with the is next redesign project….

FullSizeRender (45)

The supplies for this next project cost the most so far landing at about $45.00 dollars. I had a vision in mind and thought it would be fun for my partner and I to take this redesign challenge together. Hey, if I’m going to suffer we might as well all suffer too 😉 With the following supplies we attempted to paint a masterpiece. I know what you might be thinking “I can’t draw or paint, this one isn’t for me” but wait before you walk away and dismiss this possible room changing event. Let me reaffirm something, I too cannot paint! Seriously, I am awful at this kind of stuff but I want to prove to you and to myself that it is possible. There are also a number of different ways you can utilize canvas to spruce up a room, you don’t have to just paint or draw. Below are some great ways to use canvas to rejuvenate your space paint free;

So many amazing and creative ways to use canvas to create your own art! Remember there are no rules when it comes to this, it’s your space so add what feels right and gives that feel good feeling.

This is my feel good;

The best part is that it has a part of me and my partner in each brush stroke. Is it perfect? Nope but neither are we. You can include your family or friends in this creative project. It makes it more memorable and feels more like home cause home is where the heart is and family and friends are a part of that.

If you like my design above I would recommend using the same technique of cutting out the shapes below and then tracing them onto the canvas before painting. This allows for more consistency.

What will your canvas look like? I can’t wait to see what you come up with and please do share, lets keep the inspiration going. Next week will be the final post in this redesign series so stay tuned for a little pillow talk.

Redesign on a Dime: With the Power of Green

Sometimes it’s the little things that can have the greatest impact, this is something that I stand by and am attempting to prove true through my design series. You don’t need a lot of money to revitalize, just a little creativity. Last week I walked you through a free way to freshen up any room simply by playing a little musical chairs. This week’s redesign project is going to cost a little money depending on what you have lying around your home but shouldn’t cost more than $30.00. This week is all about this year’s theme, yup that be the green! We are going to use the power of green to liven up our space. I am going to reveal this low cost, yet effective, project using real and fake greens.

FullSizeRender (36)

The above containers once graced the clearance isle until I came along and scooped them up, hey I can’t resist a sale plus you never know when you will need them! The above cost me about $10.00 altogether. You can find some low cost containers at yard sales, second hand store and you may even have some already. Other items that I have seen used as containers are mason jars, tea cups, glass jars, etc. Point being, take off those negative Nancy pants and put on your creative ones.

I decided to make two fake greens and one real. Lets start with the real deal;

FullSizeRender (37)

For the real deal I used a succulent, they are low maintenance and forgiving if you forget to water them aka my kind of plant! Add the rocks, top it off with some soil and you are ready to add your plant;

FullSizeRender (38)

Viola! Add a fresh slice of heaven into any room. The bright colour of the pot will give a nice pop while the green creates a warm vibe. The supplies for this planter cost around $6.00. Not too bad! But wait there is more….

Let me demonstrate further with some faux;

FullSizeRender (40)

Doesn’t seem like much but when you put the two together magic happens;

FullSizeRender (39)

Ta Da!! For the low cost of $4.00 you can turn any mason jar or glass container into a fresh Spring floral. You will be sniffing the air trying to pick up the sweet scent of the wild flowers only to realize you have been duped! The more true to life you can find the silk flowers the better you will be able to capture that fresh vibe.

I hope you are realizing how these small touches can create big results. In case you aren’t convinced, or maybe you aren’t sold on the faux, this next one may just change your mind….

FullSizeRender (41)

Booyahh!! Pretty convincing, no?! I was so excited when I found this plant, it looks so much like the real deal and was only $3.99. The great thing is that you never have to water it and it will last forever. It also brings a kick of Zen into any room.

FullSizeRender (43)

Bring in the green and recreate your space, you and your home are worth every dime! Next weeks redesign series moves away from the green and gets a little messy with some paint, stay tuned…..
